How do you call your roommate a rapist?
He came home, tipsy... on the walk home, he found a girl... stumble down drunk. he "carried" her up three flights of stairs... into his room, he fucked her, and then she freaked out, put her pants on backwards, and ran out of the house... leaving her jacket and possibly her wallet behind. He followed her with the items, and she kept walking. Didn't look back. He took this as a sign and left her jacket in the snow/rain. - Jezus! Having just finished the safer SM handbook, and writing the pages on consent and drunken consent and how not valid that is... and hearing this story... I'm agahst. and really disturbed. I'm officially living with someone who sexually assaulted a drunk girl. This makes me uncomfortable. Fortunately I did get to say so, so that it's not festering as much as a secret knowledge like that would. One of the big things about this, is that after all the work for consent and stuff that I do, i forget that there is a bigger world out there of people who just don't get consent as a concept. Consent is assumed if you can't fight back.... the commonness of this convienient oversight outside of "my community" has to be so commonplace that folks don't seem to question it. He didn't question it. He laughed and told the story without shame. Now I'm all for no shame... but there should have been shame there...a whole bucket of it. But his only comeback was... "i didn't leave any fluids in her." Fucker prolly just "pulled out." Fuck.
