Editioning Be Damned
Let me just tell you.
I HATE EDITIONING
and i really do't like editioning when the image is merely ok, and when I'm constrained by the fact that this is the way I chose to do it 8 prints ago, and that no matter how much this needs to change, this pattern, that i have to keep doing it.
Anyway, So I spent Last night in the Studio... from 10:30- 6:30 and I made my print edition for the Printmaking portfolio exchange. The theme was "Revolution through Representation" which as a theme, I like muchly... and as a theme applied to my artwork, I like a little less. You see, it made my work, frigging literal. Literal, I tell you! The nice happy random marks that I know and love, became a guy throwing a grenade, or a protester, fist raised, or something, and there was a big explosion, or a squggle, that could represent "The Man" or aggression or something... and there is a wall/ row of squares at the bottom.
And now I have to pick a title to make sure the "patriotic man throwing genade" context is as "sub context as possible. or something.
Possible Titles Include but are not limited to:
"The Long Walk Home ( Minefield)"
"Black Bloc" (there I go with the literal squares)
"Mazeltov!"
"man on cell phone cheers tries to thell the reg blob that the phone call was not for him." (kidding on that last one.
So...sigh unseen, if you have any suggestions, let me know, I'll be keen on ideas.
